Ian Breakspear

Ian has been a herbalist and naturopath for more than 25 years, and a professional educator for more than 20 years, with experience in teaching, curriculum design, and academic governance at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Ian was a Director on the Board of the NHAA for eight years, with four of those years in the position of Vice-President, and currently serves as the Chair of the NHAA Board Member Advisory Committee. In addition to his clinical and academic work, Ian has extensive experience in industry, having worked as a technical consultant for various herbal medicine companies, and is presently a member of the Expert Scientific Steering Committee for Boundary Bend Olives. Currently Ian divides his time between his role as a Senior Lecturer at Endeavour College of Natural Health, his private clinical practice, and research and industry engagement.

Dr Matthew J Leach

Senior Research Fellow, University of South Australia

Dr Leach is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Rural Health at the University of South Australia. He is also a Registered nurse and Naturopath. Dr Leach has made a significant contribution to the fields of evidence-based practice, health workforce planning and complementary and integrative medicine over the past two decades. He has published more than 100 journal articles, eight book chapters and a sole-authored textbook, and has attracted over 1,600 citations for his work, for which he has a h-index of 20 and an i10-index of 39. Dr Leach is also a member of several journal editorial boards and government committees, has been awarded a competitive Research Fellowship with the Australian Research Centre of Complementary & Integrative Medicine, and has been awarded more than AU$1 million in competitive research funding.
